​What is Delta 9 THC?

Delta 9 THC is one of many different cannabinoid substances found within marijuana. In fact, it is often seen as the main psychoactive substance, or the reason marijuana gets people high, therein. It, along with CBD, are two of the most recognized cannabinoid molecules that are present in marijuana. However, they are not the only ones, as there are more than 500 different substances and specifically 100 cannabinoid molecules within marijuana.

Delta-9 differs from Delta-8 in a number of ways. For one, it is more potent than Delta-8. This can result in a stronger effect, and lead to the effect coming on much faster as well. Despite these differences, it is similar to Delta-8 in that it can be used and administered in many of the same ways. These include inhaling via smoking or vaping, oral ingestion in the form of edibles and tinctures, sublingual administration via oils placed under the tongue, or topical administration through oils, balms or lotions.

Cannabis has been used for a very long time for a wide variety of reasons. In China, the earliest known instance of cannabis, it was used for medicine, in food, and in textiles. It was also used for ritual and recreational purposes hemp was introduced to the Americas and Europe, making its way to the United States in the 1600’s where it again, was used in the textile industries amongst other fields, such as medical, and finally, recreational use come the mid 1900’s.

While it was banned federally in the 1970’s, the legality has now been left up to the individual states. This makes it imperative to check your local laws regarding cannabis before using or purchasing it or related products.

The effects of Delta-9 are much the same as Delta-8, however they are more intense. This allows them to be used to help reduce anxiety, as they can induce a feeling of wellness, sense of calm, and a relaxed feeling faster than Delta-8 products. Delta-9 THC products such as edibles or tinctures can also be used to help with problems sleeping, especially if a Delta-8 product used for sleep aid has not been effective.
